The tiny square icon that appears in a browser tab, bookmark list, or mobile “Add to Home Screen.” A crisp favicon improves brand recognition and click-thru in a sea of open tabs.
2 · Design Tips
Think simple. Use one letter or symbol from your logo rather than the full lock-up.
High contrast. Dark icon on light background or vice-versa—so it stands out among competitors’ tabs.
No tiny text. Anything smaller than 32 px is unreadable—omit slogans.
3 · Size & Format
Create artwork at 400 × 400 px (square) for consistency—then export to PNG or ICO.
After export, compress with cloudconvert.com or similar. Final file should be < 30 KB.
Smaller is fine (e.g. 128 px²) as long as it’s sharp.
4 · Before You Click Upload
Pick the right website. The page shows whichever domain is in session; if it’s wrong, choose the correct site from the Select Website dropdown.
Drag or click inside the dotted box to select your .png / .ico file.
Wait for the green “Upload successful” toast before leaving the page.
5 · After Upload
Hard-refresh your live site (Ctrl + F5)—browsers cache favicons aggressively.
Test on mobile as well; iOS & Android pull the same file.
Following these steps guarantees your favicon is lightweight, legible, and attached to the correct domain—no slow-loads or pixelated icons.
